club events and guest appearances:
The Schwaben Club today offers many chances for its members to get involved
and participate in the Schwaben heritage. Along with the organizations listed on
the main page, the Club holds nearly monthly festivals, where live music, dinner
and dancing help to celebrate some aspect of the Schwaben culture. Events
scheduled in 20010 include:
January 23, 2010: (Schwaben Hall)
- The crowning of Miss Schwaben 2010
- Each year, the club chooses a young woman to represent the Schwaben Club
in the community and at club functions: Miss
Schwaben.
- Admission and Dinner $ 20.00 Dinner 6:00
p.m (admission and dinner price, subject to change)
- Music by : Edelweiss Trio
February 20, 2010: Gründungsfest (Main Hall)
- Gruendungsfest is our 79th anniversary.
It commemorates the ground-breaking of
our club.
- Music by: Golden Keys
- Admission and Dinner - $ 22.00 for members
of the Schwaben Club and $ 32.00 for non-members.

March 20, 2010: Schlachtfest (Main Hall)
- Schlachtfest, or literally "slaughter-fest" celebrates the
annual butchering which was a part of life for the agrarian Schwabs.
Three
different varities of pork are served by our kitchen.
- Music by the Trio Plus
April 17-18, 2010: Landestrachtenfest
- Landestrachtenfest is the annual gathering of all the Ontario Schwaben
clubs to celebrate our heritage and history.

A different club hosts the fest
each year.
Hosted this year by the Schwaben Club (Main Hall- Schwaben Hall)

Music by the Transylvania Hofbraeu Band
May 2, 2010: Muttertag (Main Hall)
- Muttertag is the Mother's Day celebration at the club.
The mothers are
all presented with flowers and poems, songs or skits about mothers are
presented by the dance groups.
- Dinner will be served at 12 noon
May 29, 2010: Viennese Gala Ball.. Formal Attire Event (Donau - Lenau Halle)
Hosted by the Donau Dancers of the Schwaben Club
- Let yourself be immersed in a beautiful atmosphere of dance and music.
- Doors open 5:30pm Dinner at 6pm.

June 05, 2010: KW Trachtenfest (Main Hall)

Music
is by The Transylvania Hofbräu Band,
Admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and children under 12 are no
charge.

June 13, 2010: Family Picnic
- The Family Picnic is an afternoon of music, food and games for members and
their families.

August 6-8, 2010: Landestreffen der Donauschwaben in Philadelphia PA
August 14, 2010: Schnitzengiggle
- A Evening of Fun and Games
- Hosted by the Schwaben Dancers- Details to be announced
September 11, 2010: Kirchweih (Main Hall)
- Kirchweih celebrates the church's contribution to Schwaben culture. A
rosemary bush is auctioned off to raise funds for the Frauengruppe.
- Music by The Golden Keys.
October 8 -16, 2010: Oktoberfest
- Monday - Wednesday
October 11 - 13, 2010 "No Events"
- Oktoberfest is a 9 day Bavarian festival
encompassing all of Kitchener-Waterloo. The Schwaben Club is one of the
accredited festhallen and our dance groups performs nightly.

Bands For this year's Oktoberfest
(October 8th - 16th, 2010) the Schwaben Club will feature the following
bands:
- The Golden Keys - performing in the Main Hall
- The Schwaben 12 performing in the Schwaben Hall.. ”

Tickets to Oktoberfest can be purchased from the Club
(Monday to Friday, 9-5pm).

30, 2010: Halloween Dance
- The Golden Keys
will be entertaining the younger Generation with their favorite music beat
November 20, 2010: Gruendungsfest Frauengruppe
- Gruendungsfest Frauengruppe is the anniversary of the founding of the
Frauengruppe (Ladies Auxillary).
- Music by The Golden Keys.
December 12, 2010: Weihnachtsfest (Main Hall)
- Weihnachtsfest is the Christmas celebration for our club. Held in the
afternoon so the children can attend,
it features Christmas skits and songs
put on by the various groups and a visit from Santa Claus!
December 31, 2010: New Year's Eve (TBD)
- Music will be provided by “The Saxons"
